Who We Are:
The Chester Children’s Chorus seeks Elective Teachers for its 2025 Summer Learning Program, which runs from Monday, June 23 through Thursday, July 24.
Founded in 1994 by Dr. John Alston, the Chester Children's Chorus (CCC) provides rigorous music and math education to Chester, Pennsylvania students (grades 3-12). All CCC students are invited to attend the five-week CCC Summer Learning Program on the Swarthmore College campus. Students participate in daily choral music instruction, dance, art, academic and physical education classes.
We welcome interesting and creative class curricula. Examples of previous classes include history, creative writing, art, and dance. Camp occurs on the Swarthmore College campus.
Who you are:
- Attend pre-camp staff orientation.
- Design, prepare and implement an elective curriculum for two or threer separate groups of middle and high school-aged Chorus members during one-hour elective courses, Monday through Thursday.
- Prepare for and set up an exhibition of student work at the end of the summer program.
- Prepare a summary report of class activities at the end of the program.
- Elective Teachers report to the Managing and Education Director with added support from program staff.
What you bring:
- At least three years experience teaching middle and high school children
- Strong communication, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated interest and enjoyment in working with young people and supporting their healthy growth and development
- A responsive and nurturing teaching style
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
