The Financial Aid Administrative Coordinator provides counseling and assistance to students and families in areas of financing their Swarthmore education (student loans, financial aid, student accounts/tuition payments, student employment). The Financial Aid Administrative Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for office communications – email, phone, and visitation - and student/family engagement. Additionally, this position will be responsible for coordinating the office’s administrative needs.
The position covers three areas, listed in order of frequency annually: Financial Aid Office communications/family support; Financial Aid Office administration; and Student Employment Office assistance. Financial aid and student employment programmatically reside within the Financial Aid Office, and both areas report to the Director of Financial Aid.
The Director of Financial Aid is seeking an Administrative Coordinator who is curious and interested in developing a career in financial aid or student employment. The Administrative Coordinator is a key role on the Financial Aid team and will be exposed to all aspects of the Financial Aid process. This position provides the opportunity to grow knowledge and skills while working directly with students and families. |

Reporting to the Department Chair, the Administrative Coordinator provides high level administrative support for the Engineering department. Tasks include supporting the chair in the day-to-day running of the department, communication with students, faculty, and others, budget management and preparation, management of purchasing and procurement for the department, providing supply and facilities coordination, maintenance of the website, keeping of the department calendar, as well as mail delivery support for the department. The AC will be asked to record and retain necessary documentation of departmental activities. In addition, the AC will be responsible for supporting the organization of materials for faculty reviews and searches; drafting and preparing confidential correspondence, and documents; and regularly interacting with outside callers and visitors as well as other top-level staff within the College. The hiring of student workers and the supervision of the department’s student worker will also be required. |
Senior Project Manager

Sustainable Capital Planning and Project Management (SCPPM) is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team of planners, project managers, and interior designers. The SCPPM department is responsible for all major and minor construction projects for Swarthmore College.
Reporting to the Director of Sustainable Capital Planning and Project Management (SCPPM), the Senior Project Manager position directs and manages new construction, renovation, user fit out, capital and campus renewal projects ranging in cost up to and often exceeding $5M and occasionally exceeding $50M. Typical assignments will include multiple projects with tight timelines, focused programs, challenging site logistics and fixed budgets. This position represents Swarthmore College to internal and external constituencies including faculty, staff, students, architects, engineers, trade partners, and local government on a variety of issues related to project development and delivery.
The Senior Project Manager provides excellent customer service by actively managing the entire design and construction project including initiation, programming, design, budget, construction and occupancy while providing timely and accurate updates to client representatives regarding project status, budget, and schedule. |

The Costume Assistant for Dance has responsibility for oversight and management of all support for performances produced by the Dance Department, including the 2-3 annual dance concerts, any standalone senior projects, 3 Minutes Max, and the 2 annual Dance Lab showings. This includes working with Dance faculty and students to provide costume and staffing support for productions. Duties include: costume construction, shopping for costumes, alterations, repairs as needed, and cleaning and maintenance of costumes following each production.
The Costume Assistant for Dance position requires clarity and commitment to the mission of the Dance Department and the College, and to the support of students and faculty in this work. Specifically, this requires a balancing of educational and professional artistic standards of excellence and clarity about the distinctions and the overlapping practices of academic and professional performing arts settings.
The position schedule includes regular office hours, and requires schedule flexibility in order to meet the needs of the program for academic and performance activities in the evenings and weekends. The position is half-time, 9 months, September 1 through May 31. We are anticipating a January 2025 start for this role. |

The Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Resource Officer (CRO) Patrol/Communication. The CRO Patrol/Communication is essential to the success of our community caretaking model and community engagement role. They are responsible for responding to routine and emergency calls for service, conducting initial and follow up investigations as appropriate, responding to medical incidents and both fire and intrusion alarms. They are also responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the multi-faceted Swarthmore College Communication Center. The position maintains control of incoming telephone calls while providing direction for outgoing calls that are not direct dial accessible. The Officer courteously provides information and assistance by telephone, radio or in person to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The dispatch of internal communications, monitoring of CCTV, Access Control and both fire and intrusion alarms, as well as key control of organizations’ keys are all integral functions of the position. Coordination of communication or responding to incidents under demanding emergency conditions is an essential skill. Performs other duties as assigned. |

The Public Safety Communication Officer (PSCO) is a key role in Department responsibility for the safety and well-being of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors. The Communication Officer will be responsible for courteous and active engagement with the community, through effective communication verbally and in writing. As a Communication Officer, you are the first contact for internal and external interactions and incidents involving the College and provide a service for routine and emergency calls to the College. You will receive initial information and take appropriate action to resolve or address the situation. You will manage the functions of the communication center as well as respond to radio transmissions and in person requests for assistance. You will also need to be able to have clear communication, verbally and written, for making reports on incidents and investigations.
In this role, the primary duties of the PSCO are to assure a continuity of practices and effective communication service to/for the Swarthmore College Department of Public Safety Communications Center (SCDPSCC), the College community, and local law enforcement agencies. This position requires a high degree of community engagement, cultural competency, ability to navigate complex protocol for effective decision making based upon Department and College guidelines. The ability to provide clear communication, often under pressure, in a multifaceted communication center, and navigate a variety of technology. Personnel in this position are considered “essential” in that they support a 24 hour, 7 day per week communication center operation. |

The Smith Materials lab is seeking a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in materials science, physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related field. This DOE-funded position is for a research project aimed at investigating dynamics in glass-forming liquids. Ongoing projects study a variety of glasses including metallic, oxide, molecular, and chalcogenide glasses. Neutron scattering experiments, with a focus on quasielastic and inelastic measurements, are performed at national user facilities, particularly the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to lead the project, collaborate with the PI and undergraduate students on high-impact publications, and present at key conferences in the field. Applicants with strong experimental skills and experience in neutron or X-ray scattering are especially encouraged to apply.
The Smith Materials Lab is an interdisciplinary group of undergraduate students and research staff that thrives on teamwork and welcomes diverse candidates to join us.
