Who We Are:

The Department of Theater is a close-knit, collaborative, student-centered department that serves 4-12 majors a year. The curriculum is built around a rigorous liberal arts education in combination with a practical exploration of performance that emphasizes experimentation and collaboration. The Department values engagement with both scripted and devised work, and seeks to involve students in all aspects of production.  We produce 3-5 full-scale productions a year, in addition to student-directed “Nights of Scenes” and assorted workshops, play readings, and other events. Theater faculty are active artists and scholars in their fields, and participants in Philadelphia’s thriving theater and performance community. The opportunity:

Reporting to the Chair of Theater, the Publicity and Marketing Coordinator will support the Theater Department by overseeing the following areas: publicity, public relations, prospective student and alumni outreach and performance documentation/archiving.  This part time position will include both regularly scheduled office work as well as evening and weekend work as necessary to a total average of twenty hours per week for nine months per year.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Publicizing Theater Department and theater-related Cooper Series events.
  • Developing and updating print/email informational material such as brochures, newsletters, etc. for pre-registration academic fairs, open houses, Admissions events, prospective students, alumni, college community, etc.
  • Updating and Maintaining Department website.
  • Helping to coordinate Theater department/campus outreach events.
  • Helping to coordinate Alumni outreach efforts.
  • Working with the Performing Arts librarian to maintain archival information from Theater department and Cooper events and productions.
  • Coordinating house management and Hospitality for Theater Department events.

 Who you are:

  • Requires a highly energetic, motivated, and responsible person. They must be able to work discreetly and independently and, at the same time, enjoy contributing to teamwork situations.
  • Management and administrative skills are necessary to direct student workers, efficiently schedule and delegate personnel, and administer policies effectively.

What you bring:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn about arts administration, guest artist presenting, public relations, social media, graphic design, and performance documentation archiving in theater. 
  • Experience with social media marketing and outreach and an interest in developing creative and innovative digital and non-digital promotion materials.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is highly desirable.
