Locksmith I/II

The Locksmith I supports the maintenance and security needs of Swarthmore College by assisting in the installation, repair, & maintenance of locks, & related door hardware across campus facilities. This role is designed for individuals who have basic mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn locksmithing skills, & a strong commitment to campus safety and customer service. The incumbent will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced staff. The incumbent will be expected to attend other locksmith training recommended by their supervisor. The incumbent will also work closely with the Residence Life staff of the Dean’s office for the distribution of keys to students at the start of the semesters and for room changes over the course of the year.
The role of the Locksmith II is to provide complete locksmithing services to the College campus and ancillary housing. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the computerized records for key distribution, core distribution per a door inventory and maintaining the proper level of key blanks, cores and other hardware. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of College facilities for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The incumbent has a role in recommending door hardware solutions for new construction and will work closely with Planning and Construction as well as construction managers in making certain that College standards for door hardware are being met. The incumbent will work with the “OneCard” office in implementing, trouble shooting and repair of electronic locks. The incumbent will also work closely with the Residence Life staff for the distribution of keys to students at the start of the semesters and for room changes over the course of the year. Facilitate and schedule door security upgrades with outside contractors. |
Associate Director, Horticulture

The Associate Director, Horticulture provides leadership and professional horticultural and managerial expertise in overseeing horticultural operations of the Scott Arboretum & Gardens and the team of 14 horticulturists and others that perform this work. Assists the executive director with the planning and implementation of Arboretum efforts as they relate to horticulture and the gardens. Leads sustainability work for the landscapes, gardens and Crum Woods. Assists in working with the College’s construction and planning efforts as they relate to the campus landscape, and with design professionals working on these projects. Director, Student Accounts

The Director, Student Accounts has primary responsibility for planning, developing, managing, and administering programs that support the billing and collection of student accounts, ensuring that the College is compliant with all applicable federal and state regulations, and ensuring that regular cashier activities related to the receipt, deposit, and accounting of student account funds is administered effectively, efficiently, and with an eye on customer service and accuracy.
The Director works collaboratively with the Financial Aid Office to ensure that customer service needs are met and that a proactive approach is taken regarding all student financial matters. The Director also works collaboratively with Information Technology Services to ensure that systems and operations are functioning smoothly and efficiently.
Serves as the primary liaison between the Controller’s Office and other key administrative offices to ensure proper billing and collection, as well as re-enrollment and graduation eligibility decisions. Communicates and counsels students and families on student account obligations, billing, payment, and collection concerns. Administers the Swarthmore College Monthly Payment Plan. Provides timely and accurate management reports for auditing and organizational decision-making. Supervises one full-time support staff person. Performs other relevant duties as necessary. |
Associate Residential Manager

The manager ensures that proper cleaning and maintenance standards are met consistently. The Associate Residential Manager is responsible for hiring, scheduling, coaching, and training utility staff. In partnership with the Director and Associate Director, sets performance expectations and ensures performance and customer service expectations are met. The Associate Residential Manager ensures proper inventory is maintained, small wares associated with the serving lines are outfitted correctly. |
Community Resource Officer Patrol/Communications

The CRO is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors. The officer will be responsible for courteous and active engagement with the community. As an officer, you are the first responders to incidents involving the College and provide a service for routine and emergency calls to the College. You will conduct initial and follow-up investigations as needed and will respond to medical, fire, and intrusion alarm incidents. You will also need to be able to have clear communication, verbally and written, for making reports on incidents and investigations.
In this role, you will also be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the multi-faceted Swarthmore College Communication Center, which will require multitasking by controlling incoming calls and management of outgoing calls to other campus departments. Officers will be responsible for courteously providing information and assistance via telephone, radio, or in person to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of the College. Officers will dispatch internal communications from the monitoring of CCTV, Access Control, from both fire and intrusion alarms, as well as key control of organizations’ keys for campus use. Public Safety is a 24/7/365 operation requiring coordination of communication and/or responding to incidents under demanding emergency conditions, such as inclement weather, as an essential skill. Public Safety will also provide ongoing training in a variety of areas, such as CPR/First Aid/AED, Stop the Bleed, De-escalation, and Mental Health First Aid.
This position has a comprehensive field training schedule for the first four weeks, where you learn and work on each shift and shadow an officer during this time, and at the completion, you will begin your designated shift. |

The Community Resource Lead, Administration & Operations provides shift leadership and administrative oversight, supporting both frontline response and departmental coordination. This includes fostering positive community relationships within each shift and with campus partners during both emergency and routine operations. The role requires active response to incidents, support for field staff, oversight of follow-up investigations, and leadership in the coordination and supervision of the multi-functional Swarthmore College Communications Center.
This position is responsible for supervising the overall functions of the DPS Communications Center, with indirect supervision responsibilities of all Communications Officers. This position is responsible for ensuring effective, professional communication with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Lead maintains a strong working knowledge of all Communications Officer responsibilities, including call-taking, dispatch, CCTV monitoring, access control, alarm response, and key control. The schedule for this position will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 11 am-9 pm. |
Administrative & Insurance Coordinator

The Administrative & Insurance Coordinator provides high-level administrative support to the Director of Student Health and Wellness Services as well as the Student Health Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Nutritionist, Physicians, and wellness education team. Projects performed require a high level of autonomy.

Utility Plant Operator/Technician

The role of the Utility Plant Operator/Technician is to work in conjunction with the Utility Mechanics to operate, maintain and repair all equipment and devices relating to the College’s heating and cooling plants. This is primarily an operating and maintenance role working with Medium Pressure Boilers and Chillers up to 750 tons. The position will support the transition from steam and the current district cooling system to the new geoexchange system currently under construction as part of the 20X35 energy plan. This position requires working on equipment where 480v three phase power is commonplace, high temperature piping is present, and medium pressure steam (150 psi) is present. A Utility Plant Operator/Technician is expected to have formal education and licensing to operate high pressure boilers and the ability to make program changes to operating systems and monitor systems to assure safe operation. |
