Public Horticulture Intern Swarthmore
The Scott Arboretum & Gardens Public Horticulture Internship offers a unique opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in public horticulture with a variety of aspects of public horticulture built into the position. The intern will have opportunities to meet and work with a variety of professionals in the Philadelphia region, an area rich in public gardens. Work activities to include working with gardening staff and volunteers (three mornings/week); special project development and area garden work; participates in summer intern field trips and educational programming at the Scott Arboretum & Gardens. Travel and professional development support of $6,000 for conferences, travel, and programs based on proposal approvals. The Public Horticulture Internship is a one-year, limited-term appointment typically starting in May.
Summer Horticulture Intern Swarthmore
The Summer Horticulture Internship offers a unique work experience in a campus arboretum well-suited to an individual interested in a career in ornamental/public horticulture. On-the-job training includes exposure to garden maintenance, plant records and curation, plant propagation, and volunteer interaction. Summer interns rotate with gardening staff affording exposure to all areas of the Scott Arboretum & Gardens including a sustainable rose garden, intimate garden settings of the Cunningham House, Pollinator Garden, and Harry Wood Garden, green roofs, and seasonal container gardening featuring unusual annuals and tropical plants. Other opportunities typically include: admittance to the Woody Plant Conference, plant walks, lunch with the Director, field excursions to visit area gardens, sessions with staff, equipment use demonstration, and writing Plants of the Week, a feature on the Arboretum’s blog, Garden Seeds. The internship is a minimum of 10 to maximum of 28 weeks; typically starting in March to May and ending August to October. Emergency Preparedness & Training Coordinator Swarthmore

The Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Assistant Coach/Associate Head Coach for Women’s Soccer. The successful candidate will understand the mission of Swarthmore College, the role that intercollegiate athletics plays to support it, and will possess a record of successful leadership, preferably as a collegiate student-athlete and/or coach. The Assistant Coach/Associate Head Coach will assist the head coach with all aspects of the program, including but not limited to: organization; administration; practice, training, and competition; travel; budget management; programming; alumni relations; recruiting; fundraising; and adherence to College, Department, Conference, and NCAA policies. The Assistant Coach/Associate Head Coach will also have other essential responsibilities within the Department, which will be assigned based on Departmental needs and/or the candidate’s skills and experiences. Additional responsibilities may include serving in other roles, such as Event/Game Manager, and/or assisting various areas, including Athletic Communications, Facilities/Operations, Recreation & Wellness, Equipment Room Operations, Student-Athlete Services, and others, as assigned by the athletic administration. Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree, although preference will be given to those who have a master’s degree and previous coaching experience. Candidates will have strong recruiting, teaching, and coaching skills, and an ability to build and maintain relationships with student-athletes, faculty, administration, and community members. The Scott Arboretum Summer Education Internship offers a unique view into public horticulture education. This role offers opportunities to learn about and experience programming for adults, youth, and families, as well as communications, interpretation, and membership. Main responsibilities include assisting with the Chester Children’s Chorus Arboretum Summer class, supporting educational programming including tours, trips, workshops, conferences, and developing interpretive materials. The intern will also participate in field excursions to visit area gardens throughout the summer. Culinary Production & Supply Manager Swarthmore
The Culinary Production and Supply Manager is responsible for food, inventory, equipment, and ordering supplies; using seasonal products and utilizing current food trends. Collaborates with the Executive Sous Chef along with the Associate Director and Executive Chef in menu concept development, special event planning, writing seasonal and custom menus. Plans and develops menus with the culinary team, and provides them with new recipes and products. Maintains food costs, opportunity food purchases to save money for the operating budget, inventory controls and works within financial targets as specified by the board operations budget. Interacts with Residential Managers on food displays to ensure the highest quality of food production, standards, presentations, and techniques. Orders and schedules deliveries of all food, beverage and disposable products to meet the menu cycle. Maintains the highest levels of food safety, sanitation and cleanliness in all production areas. Processes payroll; receives invoices, takes inventory, and monitors staff productivity. Maintains all records of production, inventory, food costs and standardized recipes in the menu management system for residential dining and catering. The MakerSpace acts as a campus wide testing ground for creative innovation, making and hacking of physical things, and a space for interdisciplinary interaction and learning. It serves as the primary studio space for all Sculpture and 3D Design courses taught inside the Art Department. The MakerSpace & Woodshop Technician plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, well-supported, and inclusive learning environment. This position expands staffing coverage in the MakerSpace, strengthens safety oversight, and provides essential training and technical support for both classes taught in the space and the wider MakerSpace community that serves students, faculty, and staff across campus. McCabe Library Access & User Services Specialist (LT) Swarthmore
This limited term position for the Swarthmore College Libraries will work at McCabe Library to assist in the day-to-day operations and customer support for the Libraries. The limited term position will be needed for 35 hours per week during the Spring 2026 semester and will be the sole staff member on duty Saturdays and Sunday during the day. Lab Aide I, II, III Swarthmore
The Collins lab seeks to hire a highly motivated laboratory aide. Primary responsibilities for the lab aide will be to oversee maintenance, breeding, and organization of the animal colonies, to assist in the execution of chemical screens, and support other ongoing research in the lab. Animal maintenance includes preparing water, monitoring and maintaining the freshwater aquatic suite operation in collaboration with the departmental animal care staff, feeding and cleaning tanks and dishes, and generating gene knockdowns using RNA interference. This is a 9-months limited term position, with potential for renewal, pending external funding and job performance.

Animal Care & Research Technician Swarthmore
The Animal Care & Research Technician (ACRT) will be responsible for working with staff, faculty, and students to maintain the day-to-day operations of vertebrate and non-vertebrate labs in the Psychology and Biology Departments. The core responsibilities of the ACRT are focused on animal husbandry, including daily health and welfare checks, providing food, water, and enrichment, and changing animal cages. In addition, the ACRT will also assist with research activities as directed by the PIs, including curricular support for laboratory-based courses (e.g., research practica). While the primary supervisor of this position is the chair of the Psychology Department, the ACRT will take direction from the Animal Facility Specialists and faculty in Psychology and Biology. The position will require flexible time management and acquisition of new competencies as the animal facility and research projects change over time. The ACRT is expected to learn how to perform all duties listed below and to use this knowledge to help train students as needed. This is a part-time, 17.5 hour per week position that will be required to work some weekend days and some holidays, including winter break, as part of their regular schedule. This position may be ideal for a recent graduate in Psychology, Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field, or someone interested in a career in biomedical research, veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and/or laboratory management.
