The Office of Human Resources is conducting a search for a Human Resources Manager interested in being a part of a dynamic, collaborative team to support our talented workforce. The ideal candidate will be skilled at providing excellent customer service, demonstrate a consultative approach to manage recruitment and retention strategies, and experience with providing best practice in workplace development and relations solutions. The position reports to the Director of Equal Opportunity.

This opportunity requires a proactive and innovative self-starter, who is successful at developing relationships with clients and within a team environment. Subject matter expertise in talent management, retention practices, workplace relations and general HR knowledge including the regulatory environment is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Talent Management

  • Manages the full-cycle recruitment process, provides strategic consultation to hiring managers search committees, and partners with executive search partners.
  • Develop recruitment and search strategies, including advertising and other creative search options to attract a talented and diverse applicant pool.
  • Partner with clients to create interview guidelines, assist with the interview process, facilitate references and on-boarding process.
  • Plans and hosts regular New Employee Orientation programs and other related activities to ensure new employees are welcomed and have access to various resources and information.
  • Collaborates with campus constituents to present programs designed to engage new employees and add value to the employee experience.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews and develop a process to share meaningful feedback with recommendations to leadership.
  • Manages required background checks for new hires and recertification process for continuing employees to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. 

Workplace Relations

  • Provide guidance on best practices to create a positive and productive work environment and to enhance employee engagement.
  • Consult with employees to resolve work-related issues, including conducting workplace inquiries as needed.
  • Assist supervisors in utilizing best practices to create a positive and productive workplace and cultivate employee engagement. 

Performance Management

  • Consult with staff, supervisors and department chairs with the performance evaluation process, and assist with performance conversations and developing improvement plans as needed.
  • Lead efforts to develop and implement a culture of performance effectiveness and strategies to enhance employee performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 5-years of human resources experience and a comprehensive knowledge of employment related laws and regulations. Expertise in the area of recruitment, retention and workplace relations is required.
  • The candidate must be well-organized, self-directed, team orientated and exhibit a high level of integrity that inspires trust and confidence.
  • They must have the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • An ability to collaborate effectively with various constituents within a diverse and inclusive community is highly desired.
  • Verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate is essential.
  • Proven success developing creative sourcing strategies including the use of social media platforms, including but not limited to, LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and experience using employee data management systems, and the ability to learn new software programs is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Ellucian Banner, PageUp Applicant System and LinkedIn Recruiter is preferred.
