Residential Dining Manager Swarthmore
The Residential Dining Manager is tasked with overseeing all service and personnel associated with the front-facing and utility operations of the dining center, which is considered our residential dining program. Key responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating all front-of-house and utility staff. The manager plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring proper operations. This includes managing staff schedules, maintaining inventory, and providing leadership and coaching for all team members. Problem-solving skills are vital in this role, as the manager will work closely with the Director and Associate Director to ensure performance expectations are met and customer satisfaction is achieved. The manager is also responsible for mentoring staff and student employees, working with special dietary needs, and managing the utility crew.
Production & Sous Chef Manager Swarthmore
Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, the Production and Sous Chef Manager will be primarily responsible for customer relations, developing and executing menu plans within the menu management system, managing food budgets, and overseeing the maintenance of all kitchen equipment in the main kitchen. This position will ensure food costs are controlled, inventory is managed efficiently, and operations stay within the financial targets outlined by the board operations budget. A key responsibility of this role is managing the menu management system by developing and inputting recipes, maintaining the system, and using it for production and inventory tracking. The Production and Sous Chef Manager will assist the Executive Sous Chef in supervising, coordinating, and actively participating in the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff. They will assist in overseeing the College’s dining, retail, and catering kitchen operations by supervising kitchen personnel and managing food production for the main dining hall. The Production and Sous Chef Manager will also be involved in hiring, training, developing, and supervising the production team. They will collaborate with Residential Managers on food displays to ensure the highest standards of food production, presentation, and techniques. The Production and Sous Chef Manager will also oversee the activities of cooks and bakers, working closely with them to support the preparation of trendy, healthy, and sustainable food for Swarthmore students and the broader community.
Associate Residential Manager Swarthmore
Reporting to the Residential Manager, the Associate Residential Manager provides customer service and oversees sanitation in the Dining Center. The manager ensures that proper cleaning and maintenance standards are met consistently. The Associate Residential Manager is responsible for hiring, scheduling, coaching, and training utility staff. In partnership with the Director and Associate Director, sets performance expectations and ensures performance and customer service expectations are met. The Associate Residential Manager ensures proper inventory is maintained, small wares associated with the serving lines are outfitted correctly.
Food & Services Associate (PT Pooled) Swarthmore

The Grounds Department is seeking an Athletic Field Crew Member who provides timely and reliable support for the maintenance and care of athletic fields and campus turf. Horticultural responsibilities include caring for the plant collections and landscaped areas surrounding athletic facilities and fields. Grounds keeping responsibilities include maintaining safe paths, roads, turf areas, fields, and additional properties of the College; providing assistance for College events; providing assistance during weather emergencies, snow and ice removal in winter, and for other grounds keeping responsibilities.
Assistant Director, Reunion Giving Swarthmore

Associate Director, Regional Engagement Swarthmore

This individual will cultivate meaningful connections between alumni and the College through a mix of volunteer-led and staff-driven programs across key geographic markets. Admissions Counselor Swarthmore
The Admissions Counselor role is an entry level position that focuses on the core activities required for recruitment and selection of the College’s first year and transfer class. Tasks performed include: ● Engaging with campus visitors by giving information sessions and supporting in-person and virtual events ● Reading and evaluating applications ● Managing and recruiting from a regional territory through a mix of in-person and virtual meetings with high schools and college access organizations, college fairs, and admissions workshops and presentations ● Managing junior level programs and projects as assigned ● Representing the College at professional conferences and the Admissions Office on selected College committees Admissions Counselors are supported with detailed training and instructions to complete their work, and their assignments can be completed following standard practices and procedures.
Locksmith Swarthmore
The role of the Locksmith is to provide complete locksmithing services to the College campus and ancillary housing. The Locksmith is responsible for maintaining the computerized records for key distribution, core distribution per a door inventory and maintaining the proper level of key blanks, cores and other hardware. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of College facilities for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Locksmith has a role in recommending door hardware solutions for new construction and will work closely with Planning and Construction as well as construction managers in making certain that College standards for door hardware are being met. The Locksmith will work with the “OneCard” office in implementing, trouble shooting and repair of electronic locks. The Locksmith will also work closely with the Residence Life staff of the Dean’s office for the distribution of keys to students at the start of the semesters and for room changes over the course of the year. Facilitate and schedule door security upgrades with outside contractors.

The Office of Advancement is seeking two Associate Director(s), Swarthmore Fund, responsible for the identification, engagement, and solicitation of Swarthmore alumni and friends who can make leadership-level annual gifts to The Swarthmore Fund. The role supports the College’s heightened focus on annual support to meet student needs and is vital in engaging and growing Swarthmore’s 1864 Society ($1,864 -$99,999). The Associate Director manages a portfolio of up to 250 prospects and partners closely with Advancement colleagues to drive annual fundraising success and contribute to the long-term major gift pipeline. Postdoctoral Researcher Swarthmore
We invite applications for an experimental research postdoctoral position in the Smith Materials Lab led by Associate Prof. Hillary Smith in the Physics Department at Swarthmore College. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in materials science, physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering or closely related field. Applicants with strong experimental skills and experience in neutron or X-ray scattering are especially encouraged to apply. This DOE-funded position is for a research project aimed at investigating dynamics in glass-forming liquids. Ongoing projects study a variety of glasses including metallic, oxide, molecular, and chalcogenide glasses. Neutron scattering experiments, with a focus on quasielastic and inelastic measurements, are performed at national user facilities, particularly the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to lead the project, collaborate with the PI and undergraduate students on high-impact publications, and present at key conferences in the field. The Smith Materials Lab is an interdisciplinary group of undergraduate students and research staff that thrives on teamwork and welcomes diverse candidates to join us. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a keen interest in developing leadership and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will work closely with undergraduate students at Swarthmore College. Therefore, demonstrated teamwork ability and experience in mentoring is required. The position provides plenty of opportunities to interact with faculty, postdocs, and undergraduate students in other departments at Swarthmore College and with national and international collaborators. This is a limited term position and is on an annual renewal basis.
