The Business Operations Manager reports to the Director of Athletics and provides administrative business support for the intercollegiate, club sport, intramural and recreation programs. This full-time, year-round position involves significant interaction with students, faculty and staff. The responsibilities are performed with a high level of autonomy and require involvement with multiple constituencies across campus.

Tasks expected of the Business Operations Manager include providing primary support to the Director of Athletics in the fiscal day-to-day operations of the department of athletics and physical education. The Business Operations Manager will handle student employment, manage break periods for intercollegiate teams, oversee camp operations and other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Essential Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Provide direct oversight of daily departmental financial operations, including monitoring and reconciliation of all operating, fundraising, temporary restricted, camp and capital accounts adhering to the fiscal policies and procedures as set by the College's Business Office.
  • Process all department check requests, purchase orders, deposits, reconciliations and petty cash.
  • Direct department PCard/expense reimbursement program including new cardholder requests, internal program audits and transaction approvals.
  • Manage department team travel program including transportation, lodging and meal money.
    Manage department student staff payroll.
  • Coordinate all aspects of summer, winter and spring on-campus break periods for intercollegiate programs including working as a liaison between Athletics, Office of Student Engagement, and Dining Services to facilitate housing and meal needs for student-athletes.
  • Fiscal management and support of department-sponsored clinics and camps.
  • Primary liaison with the College’s Business Office (Accounting, Accounts Payable, Budget and Purchasing).
  • Prepare federal, NCAA, Centennial Conference and College financial reports.
  • Provides event management support and administrative coverage of home athletic events as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings or weekends to support department events and/or provide additional administrative support tasks as needed by the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic accounting/financial management skills; strong, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities; demonstrated leadership, vision, personnel and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent communication skills, strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using word processors and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience within an intercollegiate athletics operation or within higher education.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and effectively use expense management and information systems software (i.e., Banner, Google suite, Works) and to learn new technologies as they are adopted for use by the College.
