Culinary Associate (Cook) Swarthmore
The Culinary Associate will work in any of the following stations depending on the schedule or need of the department roles: Cook, Pizza Cook, Commissary, or Baker. Ensure the timely meal production for a college dining program under the direction of the Executive Chef or Sous Chef. Prep ingredients and cook or bake menu items according to standard recipes. Ensure that food production meets the departmental standards of quality, taste, creativity, presentation, and variety. Assisting with the execution of menu items, food safety, and the proper sanitation of all kitchen equipment.
Climate Action Manager Swarthmore
This position will report to the Director of Sustainability and under general supervision will lead climate protection activities across the institution and in partnership with other organizations. This includes managing developing strategies and leading projects to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, the College’s award-winning Carbon Charge program, and overseeing outreach and engagement efforts with the campus community and other groups focused on climate action. The climate action manager will work with the Director of Sustainability, the Associate Vice President for Sustainable Facilities Operation and Capital Planning, ITS, Maintenance, Capital Planning, Finance staff and other key stakeholders to support implementation of the College’s carbon neutrality plan, focusing especially on Scope 3 emissions reduction strategies. The position will also support implementation of To Zero by Thirty-Five, the College’s Energy Plan that charts the path to eliminating Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in support of the College’s 2035 carbon neutrality commitment. Related projects may include measuring and reducing air travel, exploring low-carbon commuting options, evaluating options for carbon offsets, and being part of sustainable construction projects. The climate action manager also oversees student engagement around these projects, including organizing campus programming and mentoring student interns.
Gardener I/II Swarthmore
Provides horticultural support for the care and maintenance of the plant collections, gardens and landscaped areas of the Scott Arboretum and the entire Swarthmore College campus and properties owned by the College. Tasks performed include general gardening duties and plant collections maintenance; assisting in the maintenance of the Crum Woods and faculty/staff housing properties; program assistance for Scott Arboretum educational programs and volunteer education; co-supervising Gardener I staff members, volunteers, student workers and summer interns; providing assistance for College events; performing maintenance to keep the campus exteriors safe; providing assistance during weather emergencies, for snow and ice during winter storms and for other grounds keeping duties; provides educational tours for Arboretum visitors.
Post Office Assistant I Swarthmore
Assists with the timely receiving, sorting, logging, and distribution of mail and parcels for the College departments. Tasks performed with minimal supervision include: preparing mail and packages for internal distribution and assisting members of the College community in processing outgoing packages. The position is primarily responsible for the daily distribution by vehicle of mail/packages to departments and operating the customer service window on Saturday.

Head, Arrangement & Description Swarthmore
The Head of Arrangement and Description is responsible for a broad portfolio of projects and tasks to ensure the arrangement and description of organizational records and personal papers in the Peace Collection, and to promote patrons’ ability to discover and gain access to archival materials. A knowledgeable and experienced processing archivist, the Head of Arrangement and Description thoughtfully performs tasks and coordinates projects to steward archival collections in the Peace Collection, and to collaborate on arrangement and description work with colleagues from the rest of Special Collections. They also help to guide the development of Peace Collection arrangement and description policies; contribute to reference services; represent the Swarthmore College Special Collections on committees; and perform a range of other duties to support stewardship and access to archival materials in the Peace Collection.
Executive Director, Grants & Awards Swarthmore
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Executive Director of the Office of Grants and Awards will provide leadership, support, and strategic direction for all sponsored extramural funding. The position is responsible for maintaining knowledge of and responding to changes in federal government requirements, sponsor terms and conditions, shifting levels of funding, and the financial and cash management of all sponsored projects. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of proposal review and submission, negotiation of award terms and conditions, compliance with administrative and fiscal award terms, as well as identifying and resolving issues through the life-cycle of an award. The Executive Director will also demonstrate expertise and be responsible for supporting proposal development in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE). The Executive Director collaborates with Swarthmore colleagues, as well as external sponsors and agencies, to ensure compliance, efficient execution, and cooperation in the management of sponsored programs/projects. The incumbent will also be responsible to collaborate with other stakeholders in the coordination of financial and non-financial award management, contract negotiations, sub-award management, effort certification, A-122 A 133 and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliance.
On Call Public Safety Communications Officer Swarthmore
The On-Call Public Safety Communication Officer (PSCO) is a key role in Department's responsibility for the safety and well-being of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors. The Communication Officer will be responsible for courteous and active engagement with the community, through effective communication verbally and in writing. As a Communication Officer, you are the first contact for internal and external interactions and incidents involving the College and provide a service for routine and emergency calls to the College. You will receive initial information and take appropriate action to resolve or address the situation. You will manage the functions of the communication center as well as respond to radio transmissions and in person requests for assistance. You will also need to be able to have clear communication, verbally and written, for making reports on incidents and investigations. In this role, the primary duties of the PSCO are to assure continuity of practices and effective communication service to/for the Swarthmore College Department of Public Safety Communications Center (SCDPSCC), the College community, and local law enforcement agencies. This position requires a high degree of community engagement, cultural competency, and ability to navigate complex protocols for effective decision making based upon Department and College guidelines. The ability to provide clear communication, often under pressure, in a multifaceted communication center and navigate a variety of technology. Personnel in this position are considered “essential” in that they support a 24 hour, 7 day per week communication center operation.
Temporary Athletic Fields Summer Crew Member Swarthmore

The Athletic Fields Crew Member/Gardener provides timely and reliable support for the maintenance and care of athletic fields, campus turf, gardens, and the Scott Arboretum’s plant collections. Campus groundskeeping responsibilities include maintaining safe paths, roads, turf areas, fields, and additional properties of the College. This is a temporary opportunity with the expectation of working up to 10 weeks working between late May/early June.

Area Coordinator Swarthmore
The Area Coordinator (AC) will work with the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) to supervise the residential community, which includes student staff supervision and training, crisis response, and community development. The AC will also provide substantial support to Student Activities programming through a collateral assignment and programming support. The AC is a 12-month live-in position that collaborates with students, faculty, and staff in developing residential experiences that foster a sense of community and opportunities for the personal growth of community members. As a member of the Office of Student Engagement, ACs commit to developing student leaders who are ready to engage in a diverse, global world. The AC position reports dually to the Director of Residential Communities for position aspects related to residential life and to the Director of Student Activities position for aspects related to student activities and collateral assignments. The AC will serve in many capacities including: community builder, educator, supervisor, event programmer, and collaborator. In these roles, the AC helps shape the quality of the co-curricular experience for all students.

Cataloging & Metadata Librarian Swarthmore
Reporting to the Head, Cataloging & Metadata, the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian will perform original and complex copy cataloging for materials in all formats including print, video, special collections and rare books, streaming videos, and e-books. The position will strengthen the discovery of the Libraries’ collections by creating original MARC metadata records following RDA and AACR2 standards. The incumbent will also collaborate with the Special Collections team on creating, maintaining, and enhancing subject and name authority records in a shared ArchivesSpace platform, managed by the Friends Historical Library, Peace Collection, and College Archives. The incumbent will implement the development of metadata policies that include descriptive, administrative, and technical metadata schemas for the Libraries’ current and future systems, including Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo, ArchivesSpace, and other content management systems. The incumbent will also collaborate with colleagues to improve and revise migrated data.

Director, Sustainable Capital Planning & Project Management Swarthmore
Reporting to the Associate VP for Sustainable Facilities Operations and Capital Planning, the Director accomplishes the department’s mission by working with campus stakeholders and various consultants, designers, and builders and by forming and guiding teams that provide project governance and oversight to deliver a successful capital program. Assistant Athletic Trainer Swarthmore
Swarthmore College is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer within the Department of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must have earned a degree in athletic training; have NATA BOC Certification; be certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) in the state of Pennsylvania. A master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field is preferred. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will draw upon their specialized education and training to provide preventative, rehabilitative, and emergency medical care for assigned teams/student-athletes in various settings—including before/during/after practices and contests as well as while managing athletic training room hours. The position’s responsibilities are performed with a high level of autonomy and discretion. This is an exempt, benefits eligible, 10-month position (paid over 12 months).
