Director, Environmental Services Swarthmore
Reporting to the Associate VP for Sustainable facilities Operations and Capital Planning, the Director accomplishes this by working with campus stakeholders and various consultants, guides the environmental services team that provides an optimal campus environment in academic, research, athletic, auxiliary and residential spaces to support the College’s high academic standards. The ideal candidate has vast experience and knowledge in daily cleaning operations, project cleaning and task organization in an institutional facilities management group. The person will have strong and creative leadership, budget development and management experience, analytical and problem solving competency, sustainability and environmental stewardship as a core value, and is a strong communicator. Experience in working within an institutional setting is preferred. The ideal candidate is ready to step into this dynamic role and lead the College’s dynamic and diverse environmental services team.
Administrative Assistant II Swarthmore
Under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant II provides a high level of administrative support for the Admissions Department. This position is a member of a team that serves as the department's first point of contact by greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and responding to email inquiries. Data entry and auditing, application processing, and supporting Admission Deans are some of the essential responsibilities of an Administrative Assistant II. This is a 12-month position with the expectation to work on campus to serve as a backup to the receptionist role in the office.
Assistant Director, Proposal Development (NSE) Swarthmore
The Assistant Director of Proposal Development (Natural Sciences and Engineering) works closely with the Executive Director, Grants and Awards, and faculty members in the Natural Sciences and Engineering Division to support the pursuit of external funding for science research and scholarship. The Grants and Awards office conducts prospect research, establishes and maintains relationships with funders, prepares new proposals, and coordinates proposal development for the sciences at Swarthmore College. The Assistant Director will work collaboratively to identify funding needs and prepare successful grant applications in the natural sciences and engineering, as well as supporting training, communications, and operations related to faculty grants. The Assistant Director works with the Executive Director, Grants and Awards, and members of the Swarthmore community to contribute to strengthening support structures for faculty research, primarily in the natural sciences and engineering.
Administrative Assistant II Swarthmore
The Aydelotte Foundation at Swarthmore College seeks an Administrative Assistant to provide high-level half-time administrative support. The Aydelotte Foundation at Swarthmore College is a research institute and intellectual community dedicated to an expansive definition of the liberal arts. The Administrative Assistant supports the Faculty Director and Senior Associate Director in program and research initiatives in a hybrid position with in-person and remote hours. The person in this role creates and monitors meeting agendas and office workflow; maintains and monitors department website content; provides high-level budget support; assists with event communication and planning; designs publicity material and publicizes events; manages equipment, supply, and facility needs; prepares office communications; and provides special project support as needed. This part-time, benefit eligible position is expected to work three (3) days per week; two (2) days on campus are required during the academic year (August-May).
Assistant Dean & Director, Intercultural Center Swarthmore
Swarthmore College seeks an Assistant Dean and Director of the Intercultural Center, a senior member of the Division of Student Affairs who provides leadership and strategic oversight of all aspects of the Intercultural Center. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Inclusive Excellence, this position works closely with the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Dean of Students, other staff, faculty, and alumni in developing resources for improving the quality of campus life for students of color and advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives. Responsibilities include supervising staff and interns, advising students, providing logistical support for programs and events; planning special projects supported by the office; drafting and preparing correspondence and documents; professional interactions with other members of the College community, outside visitors, and vendors. The position is also responsible for all administrative functions of the office such as reports, budgets, data and file archiving. The director will focus primarily on the development, supervision, and execution of programs supporting the activities of the Intercultural Center at Swarthmore College. As a Student Dean, they are an academic advisor to 8-10 students each year. They are the primary point of contact for a caseload of students, providing wide ranging advising and support to students on issues including academic performance (e.g. course warnings, academic probation, etc.), initiating and returning from personal and medical leaves of absence, managing health and/or personal issues, and helping students who are experiencing social or adjustment challenges. As a member of the Student Dean team, they work closely with colleagues in student health and wellness and/or counseling and psychological services on student cases involving complex and/or crisis situations. Student Deans also serve as communications liaisons with faculty, staff, and students’ families/guardians.
Environmental Technician, Part-Time (Multiple Openings) Swarthmore
Under limited supervision, the Environmental Technician maintains the cleanliness levels in campus facilities. Performs general cleaning, including but not limited to restrooms, common spaces, dorms, and academic spaces. Multiple openings are available for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts hiring on an ongoing basis. Senior Associate Director, Reporting & Analytics Swarthmore
The Senior Associate Director, Reporting and Analytics, is responsible for producing strategic, value-added technology solutions for end-users to meet organizational challenges. The incumbent collaborates with Advancement and campus colleagues to identify technological opportunities and guide operational decision making through data driven analytics to increase philanthropic goals and constituent engagement. The Senior Associate Director oversees technical systems used by Advancement and develops through software programming knowledge reporting and data visualization for Advancement staff, College leadership, and College volunteers. Additionally, this position develops documentation and training, including written, video, and live sessions, for colleagues in order to make technology and data accessible to the end users. Through this work, the Senior Associate Director acts as a key partner in the strategic planning and effective operation of fundraising and engagement programs at Swarthmore College.

Area Coordinator Swarthmore
The Area Coordinator (AC) will work with the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) to supervise the residential community, which includes student staff supervision and training, crisis response, and community development. The AC will also provide substantial support to Student Activities programming through a collateral assignment and programming support. The AC is a 12-month live-in position that collaborates with students, faculty, and staff in developing residential experiences that foster a sense of community and opportunities for the personal growth of community members. As a member of the Office of Student Engagement, ACs commit to developing student leaders who are ready to engage in a diverse, global world. The AC position reports dually to the Director of Residential Communities for position aspects related to residential life and to the Director of Student Activities position for aspects related to student activities and collateral assignments. Postdoctoral Researcher Swarthmore
The Smith Materials lab is seeking a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in materials science, physics, applied physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related field. This DOE-funded position is for a research project aimed at investigating dynamics in glass-forming liquids. Ongoing projects study a variety of glasses including metallic, oxide, molecular, and chalcogenide glasses. Neutron scattering experiments, with a focus on quasielastic and inelastic measurements, are performed at national user facilities, particularly the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged to lead the project, collaborate with the PI and undergraduate students on high-impact publications, and present at key conferences in the field. Applicants with strong experimental skills and experience in neutron or X-ray scattering are especially encouraged to apply. The Smith Materials Lab is an interdisciplinary group of undergraduate students and research staff that thrives on teamwork and welcomes diverse candidates to join us. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and a keen interest in developing leadership and mentoring skills. The successful candidate will work closely with undergraduate students at Swarthmore College. Therefore, demonstrated teamwork ability and experience in mentoring is required. Community Resource Officer Patrol/Communications Swarthmore
The Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for the position of Community Resource Officer (CRO) Patrol/Communication. The CRO Patrol/Communication is essential to the success of our community caretaking model and community engagement role. They are responsible for responding to routine and emergency calls for service, conducting initial and follow up investigations as appropriate, responding to medical incidents and both fire and intrusion alarms. They are also responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the multi-faceted Swarthmore College Communication Center. The position maintains control of incoming telephone calls while providing direction for outgoing calls that are not direct dial accessible. The Officer courteously provides information and assistance by telephone, radio or in person to faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The dispatch of internal communications, monitoring of CCTV, Access Control and both fire and intrusion alarms, as well as key control of organizations’ keys are all integral functions of the position. Coordination of communication or responding to incidents under demanding emergency conditions is an essential skill. Performs other duties as assigned.
On Call Public Safety Communications Officer Swarthmore
The On-Call Public Safety Communication Officer (PSCO) is a key role in Department's responsibility for the safety and well-being of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors. The Communication Officer will be responsible for courteous and active engagement with the community, through effective communication verbally and in writing. As a Communication Officer, you are the first contact for internal and external interactions and incidents involving the College and provide a service for routine and emergency calls to the College. You will receive initial information and take appropriate action to resolve or address the situation. You will manage the functions of the communication center as well as respond to radio transmissions and in person requests for assistance. You will also need to be able to have clear communication, verbally and written, for making reports on incidents and investigations. In this role, the primary duties of the PSCO are to assure continuity of practices and effective communication service to/for the Swarthmore College Department of Public Safety Communications Center (SCDPSCC), the College community, and local law enforcement agencies. This position requires a high degree of community engagement, cultural competency, and ability to navigate complex protocols for effective decision making based upon Department and College guidelines. The ability to provide clear communication, often under pressure, in a multifaceted communication center and navigate a variety of technology. Personnel in this position are considered “essential” in that they support a 24 hour, 7 day per week communication center operation.
