Swarthmore College is a member of the NCAA Division III, ECAC and the Centennial Conference. The Department of Physical Education & Athletics is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Head Coach for Men’s Tennis. The successful candidate will understand the mission of Swarthmore College and the role that intercollegiate athletics plays to support it. The Head Coach will coordinate all aspects of a nationally recognized program including recruiting, organization, administration, budget management, alumni relations, fundraising, and adherence to Conference policies. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain positive communication with alumni, parents, and friends of the program. The candidate will teach physical education classes and an additional responsibility within the department will be expected, as well as other duties as assigned by the director of athletics.
Qualified candidates must possess bachelor’s degree, although strong preference will be given to those who have a master’s degree and relevant head coaching experience. Candidates will have strong recruiting, teaching, and coaching skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with student-athletes, faculty, administration, and community. Candidates will possess a record of successful leadership in competitive tennis, preferably as a head coach, and will understand the role of intercollegiate athletics within the educational framework of a highly competitive academic environment.
