The Assistant Director of Horticulture and Grounds assists the Director and department in providing the highest level of management and supervisory expertise in maintaining aesthetic and safety aspects of all exterior areas of the College.  Main responsibilities include the following: supervising in Director’s absence full-time, part-time, temporary, student, and summer workers; working with outside designers and contractors on campus projects; performing project management; assisting in the supervision of maintenance of athletic fields, roads and walkways; taking responsibility for horticultural maintenance on all College-owned property off-campus and assisting with areas of main campus; promotes sustainability in all horticultural and grounds operations; assists in preparing and administering the department’s operating and capital budgets; manages the implementation of snow removal on College-owned properties.  Perform other duties as assigned.  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscape design or related field.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in horticulture or related field.
