The Director of Student Disability Services works to ensure that students with disabilities have full access to all of the learning opportunities and resources offered by the College. The Director collaborates with students, faculty, staff and other constituents in the provision of academic accommodations and with the goal of upholding the College's commitment to excellence in diversity. The Director also provides individual student advising and academic support.  Main responsibilities include the following: Determines, coordinates and monitors the provision of academic support services and programs for students with disabilities; Reviews documentation and determines appropriate academic accommodations and auxiliary aides for students with disabilities; Communicates regularly with faculty and staff to ensure students who exhibit learning difficulties or who experience injuries are provided with appropriate assistance; Provides individualized strategy instruction in academic reading, writing, studying and time management based on student documentation and expressed needs; Provide guidance and recommendations for accommodations and additional supportive resources; Serves as Observer to the faculty Committee on Academic Requirements; Meets regularly with students on probation as assigned by the faculty Committee on Academic Requirements; Serves as academic advisor for approximately 3-6 first and second year students in order to provide them counseling on course selection. Perform other duties as assigned.  


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years’ experience accommodating students with disabilities at a postsecondary level.
  • Must have excellent presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and parents/guardians.


  • Master’s degree
  • Three to five years’ experience with academic support or inclusion programs at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience working with learning differences
