Assistant Director, Global Engagement Office Swarthmore
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director is integral to our 5-member team supporting international opportunities at Swarthmore College. The Global Engagement Office serves a mission of connecting our community to larger global contexts through study, research, and work under the leadership of the Executive Director. Within this broader purview, the Assistant Director’s responsibilities largely center on support for our semester and year-long study abroad programs.

Head, Arrangement & Description Swarthmore
The Head of Arrangement and Description is responsible for a broad portfolio of projects and tasks to ensure the arrangement and description of organizational records and personal papers in the Peace Collection, and to promote patrons’ ability to discover and gain access to archival materials. A knowledgeable and experienced processing archivist, the Head of Arrangement and Description thoughtfully performs tasks and coordinates projects to steward archival collections in the Peace Collection, and to collaborate on arrangement and description work with colleagues from the rest of Special Collections. They also help to guide the development of Peace Collection arrangement and description policies; contribute to reference services; represent the Swarthmore College Special Collections on committees; and perform a range of other duties to support stewardship and access to archival materials in the Peace Collection.
Executive Director, Grants & Awards Swarthmore
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Executive Director of the Office of Grants and Awards will provide leadership, support, and strategic direction for all sponsored extramural funding. The position is responsible for maintaining knowledge of and responding to changes in federal government requirements, sponsor terms and conditions, shifting levels of funding, and the financial and cash management of all sponsored projects. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of proposal review and submission, negotiation of award terms and conditions, compliance with administrative and fiscal award terms, as well as identifying and resolving issues through the life-cycle of an award. The Executive Director will also demonstrate expertise and be responsible for supporting proposal development in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE). The Executive Director collaborates with Swarthmore colleagues, as well as external sponsors and agencies, to ensure compliance, efficient execution, and cooperation in the management of sponsored programs/projects. The incumbent will also be responsible to collaborate with other stakeholders in the coordination of financial and non-financial award management, contract negotiations, sub-award management, effort certification, A-122 A 133 and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliance.
On Call Public Safety Communications Officer Swarthmore
The On-Call Public Safety Communication Officer (PSCO) is a key role in Department's responsibility for the safety and well-being of Swarthmore College students, campus property, community members, and visitors. The Communication Officer will be responsible for courteous and active engagement with the community, through effective communication verbally and in writing. As a Communication Officer, you are the first contact for internal and external interactions and incidents involving the College and provide a service for routine and emergency calls to the College. You will receive initial information and take appropriate action to resolve or address the situation. You will manage the functions of the communication center as well as respond to radio transmissions and in person requests for assistance. You will also need to be able to have clear communication, verbally and written, for making reports on incidents and investigations. In this role, the primary duties of the PSCO are to assure continuity of practices and effective communication service to/for the Swarthmore College Department of Public Safety Communications Center (SCDPSCC), the College community, and local law enforcement agencies. This position requires a high degree of community engagement, cultural competency, and ability to navigate complex protocols for effective decision making based upon Department and College guidelines. The ability to provide clear communication, often under pressure, in a multifaceted communication center and navigate a variety of technology. Personnel in this position are considered “essential” in that they support a 24 hour, 7 day per week communication center operation.
Temporary Athletic Fields Summer Crew Member Swarthmore
At Swarthmore, 22 varsity sports and numerous offerings of club sports, student activity groups, and physical education courses offer a wealth of opportunities to pursue a healthy and physically active lifestyle. The Athletic Fields Crew Member/Gardener provides timely and reliable support for the maintenance and care of athletic fields, campus turf, gardens, and the Scott Arboretum’s plant collections. Campus groundskeeping responsibilities include maintaining safe paths, roads, turf areas, fields, and additional properties of the College. This is a temporary opportunity with the expectation of working up to 10 weeks working between late May/early June.

Area Coordinator Swarthmore
The Area Coordinator (AC) will work with the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) to supervise the residential community, which includes student staff supervision and training, crisis response, and community development. The AC will also provide substantial support to Student Activities programming through a collateral assignment and programming support. The AC is a 12-month live-in position that collaborates with students, faculty, and staff in developing residential experiences that foster a sense of community and opportunities for the personal growth of community members. As a member of the Office of Student Engagement, ACs commit to developing student leaders who are ready to engage in a diverse, global world. The AC position reports dually to the Director of Residential Communities for position aspects related to residential life and to the Director of Student Activities position for aspects related to student activities and collateral assignments. The AC will serve in many capacities including: community builder, educator, supervisor, event programmer, and collaborator. In these roles, the AC helps shape the quality of the co-curricular experience for all students.
Administrative Coordinator II Swarthmore
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Swarthmore College invites applications for an Administrative Coordinator II (AC) to provide senior-level support to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VPDEI). The AC serves as the primary administrative point of contact and support for the VPDEI. This role includes, but is not limited to, tracking and prioritizing tasks and projects based on the Office and College’s needs and strategic goals; handling sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner; managing the VPDEI’s calendar, ensuring it is accurate, up-to-date, and conflict-free; preparing meeting materials; and tracking and at times responding to correspondence on behalf of the VPDEI. The AC may also serve as a highly visible representative of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for various meetings and/or events and, therefore, must be a skilled communicator with outstanding interpersonal and intercultural skills to support an inclusive and welcoming office environment for diverse populations of students, staff, and faculty.
Cataloging & Metadata Librarian Swarthmore
Reporting to the Head, Cataloging & Metadata, the Cataloging and Metadata Librarian will perform original and complex copy cataloging for materials in all formats including print, video, special collections and rare books, streaming videos, and e-books. The position will strengthen the discovery of the Libraries’ collections by creating original MARC metadata records following RDA and AACR2 standards. The incumbent will also collaborate with the Special Collections team on creating, maintaining, and enhancing subject and name authority records in a shared ArchivesSpace platform, managed by the Friends Historical Library, Peace Collection, and College Archives. The incumbent will implement the development of metadata policies that include descriptive, administrative, and technical metadata schemas for the Libraries’ current and future systems, including Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo, ArchivesSpace, and other content management systems. The incumbent will also collaborate with colleagues to improve and revise migrated data.

Director, Sustainable Capital Planning & Project Management Swarthmore
Reporting to the Associate VP for Sustainable Facilities Operations and Capital Planning, the Director accomplishes the department’s mission by working with campus stakeholders and various consultants, designers, and builders and by forming and guiding teams that provide project governance and oversight to deliver a successful capital program. The Director leads the College’s annual capital plan development and prepares materials for plan approval by the Board of Managers. The Director ensures that all design and construction complies with the College’s Design Standards and Guidelines and Sustainability Framework. The ideal candidate has broad experience and knowledge in capital planning, construction project delivery, and institutional facilities management. Assistant Athletic Trainer Swarthmore
Swarthmore College is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer within the Department of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must have earned a degree in athletic training; have NATA BOC Certification; be certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) in the state of Pennsylvania. A master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field is preferred. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will draw upon their specialized education and training to provide preventative, rehabilitative, and emergency medical care for assigned teams/student-athletes in various settings—including before/during/after practices and contests as well as while managing athletic training room hours. The position’s responsibilities are performed with a high level of autonomy and discretion. This is an exempt, benefits eligible, 10-month position (paid over 12 months).
Food Services Manager - Swarthmore Dining (Associate Residential Manager) Swarthmore
The Associate Residential Manager assists the Residential Manager in all aspects of managing all service and personnel associated with the front facing operations of the Dining Center. Be the main point of contact for the front of the house operations when the Residential Manager is not on site. Assist with recruiting, hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and training all front of house staff. Provide the dining program with outstanding customer service. Work with the Executive Chef to ensure the Allergen Station menus are meeting requirements for the top allergens and offering a varied menu to meet the needs that students require. Research Fellow Swarthmore
The department seeks a postdoctoral fellow to administer and maintain the ERP lab in support of collaborative research with faculty and students. This includes training students (and faculty) in the use of the facilities, as well as participating in the design, development and analysis of faculty-sponsored research using ERP equipment – sometimes in conjunction with eye-tracking or virtual reality. This support may include technical consulting and programming as well as presenting research at domestic and international conferences and helping to prepare research for publication. The position is for 2 years, beginning as early as July 1, 2024, with the possibility of extension.
Head, McCabe Access & User Services Swarthmore
Reporting to the Associate Director for Research, Instruction, and User Services, the Head of McCabe Access and User Services is responsible for the leadership and management of the McCabe Library Access and User Services department with oversight of circulation services, print and digital reserves, interlibrary loan, public facing technologies, building use, and security. They supervise 4 FTE staff and, with the staff, approximately 12 FTE student staff (60 individuals). The Head of McCabe Access and User Services fosters a collaborative, productive, and engaging work environment for Access Services staff. In coordination with the branch libraries and consortial colleagues at Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, they seek to align practices and policies that enhance access to the libraries. They collaborate with the College’s Disabilities Services, Dean’s Office, ITS, and other student affairs services. A member of the Library Council, the Head of McCabe Access and User Services is responsible for contributing to priority setting and decision making. In collaboration with the Associate Director for Research, Instruction, and User Services as well as the Head of Research and Instructional Services, they provide coordination for all public-facing library services, ensuring that both regular and student staff provide the highest quality information services to library patrons.

The Project Engagement Specialist is responsible for facilitating the efficient management of IT projects and change initiatives as assigned. Reporting to the Project Engagement Manager, this position collaborates with stakeholders to collect feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies aimed at enhancing customer engagement and project success. This role is also responsible for training, documentation management and executing educational and awareness campaigns, serving as a technology communicator, and change agent for the Swarthmore community.
Community Resource Lead - Public Safety Swarthmore
The Community Resource Lead for the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is an integral part of the support and resource network on campus. The Community Resource Lead is responsible for building positive community relationships throughout campus as well as for responding to routine and emergency calls for service, conducting initial and follow up investigations as appropriate, responding to medical incidents and both fire and intrusion alarms. They are also responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the multi-faceted Swarthmore College Communication Center.
